Celebrate National Doughnut Day With Free Doughnuts Because You Deserve This

The sweetest, unofficial holiday of the year is finally here! Today marks the 79th anniversary of National Doughnut Day and truth be told, there is no better way to celebrate this gloriously lovely day than by indulging in doughnuts.

First created by the Salvation Army in 1938 to honor its female volunteers who fed soldiers in France during the First World War, this holiday is a testament to the glory of sharing treats with those that matter to us. Today, big coffee chains are celebrating by offering customers and food lovers alike free doughnuts — and we want to take advantage, for obvious reasons.

Doughnuts are delicious and free stuff makes everything taste all the more yummier, right? To help you navigate through the chains of consumerism and hot cups of coffee, we share some of best, commercial spots you can commemorate Friday’s big day with. You “dough-not” want to miss it!

Krispy Kreme

Krispy Kreme is showing the competition how it’s done by giving away “any doughnut” for free. Yes, you read right — any doughnut, which means you can grab their classic glazed or their new collaborative Ghirardelli treats, and the best part is there’s no additional purchase or coupon necessary.

Dunkin’ Donuts

America’s favorite breakfast chain is serving free doughnuts when you buy any beverage on Friday, June 2. It’s also a perfect time to try out their newest flavor, Vanilla Cake Batter. Check participating locations for details.

Tim Horton’s

Canada’s favorite coffee chain is offering doughnuts in Canada and the U.S. for this special holiday. While some of their chains might close up the bakery after 7 p.m. local time, customers can get their free classic doughnut only when they buy any hot or iced coffee and mention National Donut Day.

LaMar’s Donuts

The beloved Midwestern doughnut shop is letting customers know they are celebrating National Doughnut Day in a big way! LaMar’s is collaborating with the Salvation Army to take a bite out of child hunger on this day. Just bring in this “Golden Ticket,” either printed or on your phone’s screen, and you can have any doughnut “with a hole” for free, no purchase required.

Duck Donuts

All customers of this east-coast chain will get a free doughnut with any purchase. If you make a purchase on June 2, receipts on this day will offer a coupon for a free half-dozen doughnuts with the purchase of a half-dozen, good through Aug. 31. Not a bad deal, right?
