After last week’s shocking elimination, I knew that the only thing that could make it right this week would be some stellar dancing. The night opened with an interesting “Neon Cowboy” routine (as Nigel dubbed it) set to the fresh-off-the-press Nicki Minaj + Jessie J + Ariana Grande collab “Bang Bang”. While the routine was […]
SYTYCD11: Double Eliminations Are Twice As Hard
Oof. If you just finished watching the show like I did, you know that tonight’s cuts were not easy. Double eliminations, over the course of SYTYCD history have been known for being extra bad because, somehow, some really promising talent gets swept under the rug and tonight… well, I won’t spoil it.
SYTYCD11: Sweet 16 Makes It Hard To Cut
The title of my recap for this week is slightly misleading. I personally think the judges were making it seem like the decision on who to cut from the Bottom 6 was a difficult one when really the decision America made was absolutely the right one. I’ll go on to talk about why after discussing […]
SYTYCD11: Top 18 Improves On Last Week
One complaint I had about last week’s show is that, despite such a strong cast of kids, I felt like the routines were lackluster, stale and recycled. I felt like Nigel heeded my call this week and brought back refreshingly honest guest judge Misty Copeland (who’s back again next week, so kudos for that) and […]
SYTYCD11: Trimming The Fat on the Top 20
If you read my SYTYCD reviews last season, you’ll know I save discussion for the eliminations last and dive right in to talking about the routines. Before we get to that, let’s talked about the second of our Top 20 group routines. I thought the Broadway routine from the new choreographer (Joshua Burgasse) did a […]
SYTYCD11: Speed Dating The Top 20
Before we lose two of them tonight, I thought I’d give you a run down of each contestant. Who has what it takes to win or at least crack the all-important Top 10 where they get to pair up with the uber-talented all-stars? Their showcase routines gave us a little taste of who is good […]
Man Hands, Butter Shaves and The Masters of Their Domain: Celebrating 25 Years of “Seinfeld”
As a nation winds down from celebrating the 4th of July this weekend, many will be lounging on the couch and celebrating a different occasion: the 25th anniversary of the premiere of one of the best half-hour comedies to ever grace television history. Arguably known as the most popular sitcom of all-time, Seinfeld—the ‘show about nothing’—originally premiered July 5, 1989 on NBC (known as The Seinfeld Chronicles). Through the everyday story-lines and quirky situations, audiences grew interested and absorbed in the tales by relating to the four offbeat main characters’ imperfections and eccentricities. Soon enough, the show catapulted to top spots on the Nielson ratings and would redefine the elements and clever charm of situational comedy for generations to come.
PILOT REVIEW: Is the world ready for “Girl Meets World”?
Nostalgia is a powerful thing. People of all ages look back on their childhoods fondly and often hold the toys, games, and media of their youth in high regard. It’s sometimes a bad idea to revisit these childhood favourites—these things are rarely as incredible as we once believed them to be. But every once in […]
Previewing the ‘Big Brother 1’6 Cast and the New Twist
Well, fellow Big Brother addicts, it’s that time of the year again. It’s time to spend too much time to even count watching 16 strangers act absurdly all for our entertainment—oh, and the potential to win $500,000. It’s Big Brother 16! The new season premieres tomorrow on CBS at 8pm, so I suggest you take […]
Netflix: Decoded
In a world where more and more people are looking for more and more ways to watch their favorite TV shows and movies, Netflix stands atop the proverbial hill.
Caleb Johnson Wins American Idol XIII
Caleb Johnson auditioned for American Idol in two previous years and got cut both times. On Wednesday, the 23-year-old rocker from Asheville, N.C., won the show’s 13th season, beating out 17-year-old Jena Irene for the title.
American Idol XIII: Top 2 – The Sleeper Vs The Rock Viking
In case you haven’t checked the polls from my previous article, it turns out that literally everyone who voted had already decided which team they were: Caleb or Jena, before even seeing the performances. Which is part of the reason I feel like the finale performance night doesn’t actually matter in the grand scheme of […]
American Idol XIII: Top 3 Performance Show, Three’s a Crowd, Two’s a Finale…
It’s hard to believe that we’re already just a few days away from the big Idol finale. Season 13 has been a wild ride filled with inconsistent, but generally good performances and inconsistent, but general good judging and, well… inconsistent, but generally good results and all of those things held true during our Top 3 […]
