In a World Movie Poster Giveaway

CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WINNER, PAIGE H OF NEVADA!

How many times have you heard a deep, gravelly voice speak this classic line in a movie trailer? It’s practically featured in every film preview since the beginning of time!  In this hilarious and heart-felt new film, In A World… Lake Bell (No Strings Attached, Shrek Ever After, Children’s Hospital) stars as a struggling vocal coach who strikes it big in the cutthroat world of movie-trailer voice-overs, only to find herself in direct competition with the industry’s reigning king—her father!

The film which is written and directed by Bell won the Sundance 2013 Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award for the script this past January. In A World… also stars indie-comedy heavyweights such as Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine), Demetri Martin (Important Things with Demetri Martin), and Ken Marino (Veronica Mars).

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Bell shares how there are almost no notable film trailers that have employed female voice-over talent except for Gone in 60 Seconds, which used Melissa Disney. Bell was intrigued that the prototypical “omniscient” voice behind movie trailers were male, inspiring her to write a story in which a female protagonist sought to overcome such prejudices, resulting in her feature-length writing, directing, and producing debut. For you cinephiles, the title of the film was inspired by the phrase used by Don LaFontaine to start many film trailers.

Check out the In A World… Blog App below and take the Movie Trailer Voice-Over Quiz! You can also watch hilarious and action-packed GIFs from the film and view the official trailer for this clever indie comedy!
