After months of anticipation and various other award shows, last night was the big night! The 86th annual Academy Awards finally took place with all of the winners, nominees, presenters and celebrity guests dressing their absolute best to celebrate the year in film. There were big trends on the red carpet seen with specific attention to detail, like the sparkling nudes, creams, and beaded metallics as seen on Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Garner or Angelina Jolie; or the beautiful blues, seen on the likes of Lupita Nyong’o, Amy Adams or Sandra Bullock; the classic black worn by Anna Kendrick or Charlize Theron; and of course, the sleek suits and tuxedos modeled by the likes of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Bradley Cooper or Matthew McConaughey.
There wasn’t a whole lot of bright colors seen on the red carpet, but we didn’t mind. There was a ton of glitz and charm seen thanks to the stars. While the ladies glammed it up with plunging necklines and accessories like statement earrings, vintage neckware and hairbands; others let their hair down sporting vintage inspired looks, like side-swept waves and chic up-dos as seen on such stars like Jessica Biel, Sandra Bullock, Emma Watson or Meryl Streep. There was a fair amount of men showcasing some well-groomed facial hair, adding a healthy dose of sex appeal to their overall look, as well as some beaming a subtle bronzed glow. It also appeared that every lady in Hollywood opted to skip sleeves, as there were a ton of strapless gowns flowing on the red carpet.
Overall, Hollywood’s stars hit the red carpet and glittered in gold, stunned and dazzled in dark dresses, sharp tuxedos and sleek suits, making it hard to pick a favorite.
