March 8th is International Women’s Day, an event committed to celebrating the amazing achievements of incredible women and raising awareness of the important issue of women’s equality. Annually, organizations from communities worldwide host special events and run campaigns for the purpose of bringing women together to connect with and inspire one another.

The theme for 2015 is Make It Happen, a bold statement which communicates the urgency of taking effective action towards advancing and recognizing women in our global societies. While women have made great strides in speaking up about issues they face and taking charge of their rights in recent times, there’s still a lot of work to be done.

In my mind, there’s nothing like a good girl power anthem to get your spirits revved up enough to want to change the world. Here are some songs of empowerment from some amazing female musicians (both classic and new) that will make you cheer, get you movin’, and motivate you to go out and conquer. Watch out, everyone, hear she roars!

What are your favorite female-driven power anthems?
