May has arrived, bringing along with it warm weather, NSYNC* memes, and a slew of entertainment news stories. With award shows, fashion galas, and shocking celeb splits, May certainly had no shortage of hot topics. Here’s what Hollywood headlines had us wagging our tongues all through the month!

New Hairy Styles
One Direction singer, and all around good guy, Harry Styles, made jaws drop this month with an Instagram post indicating he had chopped off his famous locks. The “Perfect” crooner had his curls cut for an upcoming roll in Christopher Nolan’s new flick, Dunkirk, where he later debuted his new ‘do on set. The World War II drama sees Styles star alongside The Revenant’s Tom Hardy and recent Academy Award winner, Mark Rylance. The decision to shorten his hair comes as no surprise to many fans who have been keeping close tabs on the singer. In December, he revealed he would eventually cut his hair, and donate his locks to charity. The 22-year-old heartthrob made good on his promise! Styles donated his hair to a charity called Little Princess Trust, which makes hair pieces and wigs for children with cancer. The British rocker’s charitable contribution comes as no surprise as he previously taken part in Red Nose Day with his fellow One Direction bandmates (along with a slew of other organizations), and most recently donated a signed pair of Paige Denim jeans to the charity Jeans for Refugees. It’s no surprise his heart is as lovely as he is!

Met Gala Mayhem
The 2016 Met Gala made its annual appearance at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City this month. The gala brought out big name stars from Beyoncé and Solange to the events host, Taylor Swift, and gal-pal Selena Gomez. The night’s theme, Manus x Machina, lead to an array of cuts, colors, and couture fashion on the red carpet. Stars like Kristin Stewart, Claire Danes, and Jordan Dunn stepped up their fashion for the event with hair and dresses that lit up the infamous staircase. Once it began, fans of fashion were given a peak at some of the festivities’ fun when a video surfaced of Swift dancing alongside The Avengers actor, Tom Hiddleston. The actor and songstress danced to The Weeknd’s tunes and gave fans everywhere something to swoon over. While we may not have gotten a ticket inside the event, images and footage of the night will certainly tide us over until next year!

Billboard-Sized Drama
Not only did pop culture lovers get to see the Met Gala’s red carpet, we were also treated to the 2016 Billboard Music Awards! The night was filled with performances from Britney Spears, Celine Dion, and Rihanna. The evening saw artists such as The Weeknd and Justin Bieber win big, although not everyone was happy about it. Bieber took to Instagram shortly after the ceremony to explain his disdain for award shows, calling them “hollow,” among other things. Bieber wasn’t the only one unpleased with the show. BET created and released an ad for their upcoming show which will see a Prince tribute debut on the show. The network was reportedly slamming Madonna’s performance of the late icon’s hits, as the ad was released hours after the award show ended, and included the words, “Yeah, we saw that. Don’t worry. We got you.” The “Like A Virgin” singer has since hit back at the network, taking to her Instagram to show a photo of a young Madonna sporting a jacket given to her by the “Purple Rain” crooner. Only time will tell if BET will clap back at the veteran songstress.

Calvin’s Okay
The drama didn’t stop at the BBMAs this month. DJ, Calvin Harris, saw his fair share of trouble after the car in which he was being driven was hit by a another car. The driver from the other car swerved over the median and crossed into Harris’ vehicle. Taylor Swift’s beau was then rushed to the emergency room to tend to lacerations on his face. The “This Is What You Came For” producer then released multiple statements in which he thanked fans for their support, and apologized for having to cancel shows last minute. Swift was said to be “in shock” from the incident, according to E! News. But things are certainly looking up! Harris has most recently been in London where he sent out a few images on Snapchat, and looking A-okay. Get well soon, Calvin!

Depp’s in Deep
Calvin Harris wasn’t the only star having a rough month. Actor, Johnny Depp, has seen better himself as his wife and actress, Amber Heard, filed for divorce form the actor after 15 months of marriage. The actress was also recently granted a restraining order against the Alice Through The Looking Glass star after stepping out with a bruise on her right eye. According to court documents filed by Heard, Depp allegedly threw a cell phone at the 30-year-old actress’ face during a recently heated argument. Depp rep released a statement declining to comment on any of the recent drama and says the star is focused on his latest Disney film release. Since the restraining order was granted, Depp’s former partner, model Vanessa Paradis, and daughter Lily-Rose Depp, have both allegedly come out in support of the 52-year-old actor. While Depp’s daughter let her thoughts out on Instagram, TMZ reportedly received a letter from Paradis in which she writes about the recent allegations, calling them “outrageous.”
