Selma, Selma, Selma
Selma Blair has certainly seen better months. Straight off the heels of the critically acclaimed television miniseries, The People Vs OJ Simpson, actress Selma Blair (who portrayed Hollywood mogul and Kardashian momager, Kris Jenner) was escorted off a plane after a reported outburst. The Delta flight, which flew from Cancun, Mexico to Los Angeles, was stopped short of its arrival after the actress allegedly began making concerning statements in first class, this according to an eye-witness who spoke with TMZ. According to TMZ, the witness states the actress said, “He beats me. He’s going to kill me.” This among other accusations made after Blair allegedly consumed “something – perhaps medication – with her glass of wine.” After the plane landed, Blair was taken out on a stretcher. The Legally Blonde actress has since issued a statement of apology to the pubic, saying, “I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry.” Here’s to wishing the actress and her family well!

Young Hollywood Breakups
Typically, warm weather brings summer romance and new love. Unfortunately for these young couples, that wasn’t the case this year. Both rapper Iggy Azalea and her LA Lakers fiancé, Nick Young, and singer Demi Lovato and actor Wilmer Valderrama split earlier this month. Azalea’s breakup with Young may not seem very surprising to fans, as the NBA star was filmed admitting to cheating on the young Australian rapper. Azalea took to Instagram to break to the news to fans, writing, “Unfortunately, although I love Nick and I have tried and tried to rebuild my trust in him — It’s become apparent in the last few weeks I am unable to.” The couple were engaged for a year. As for Demi and Wilmer, fans of the couple were left in shock at the release of their joint statement this month. The couple announced the end of their relationship on social media, citing “We have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends. We will always be supportive of one another. Thank you to everyone who has offered us kindness and support over the years.” Unfortunately, these two couples weren’t the only ones to break up in young Hollywood.

Taylor Moves On
Fans were devastated early this month to learn one of Hollywood’s biggest “It” couples, Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris, had called it quits. The two reportedly fizzled out over the past few months. Harris tweeted a statement saying their relationship may have ended, but love still remained. Swift later retweeted him, but this is where things get rocky. Swift was soon thereafter spotted kissing British heart throb and actor Tom Hiddleston near her Rhode Island home. The two met at the Met Gala in May, and were filmed dancing the night away. After images of the two surfaced, Harris then deleted all images and tweets referencing Swift on both Instagram and Twitter. Swift then made her own purge on her Instagram, leaving only a handful of memories the two shared. Most recently, Harris was spotted listening to some Kanye West tunes on a yacht with friends and beautiful women, per his Snapchat account. Swift has since been spotted meeting Hiddleston’s family in Europe after introducing him to hers in Nashville just last week! And speaking of Kanye West…

West released the music video for his latest single, “Famous” which famously made headlines a few months back when the lyrics sparked some controversy. The line “I think me and Taylor might still have sex, why? I made that b**** famous,” leaked to the internet after fans captured a video of the song playing over West’s clothing line debut. The video features wax figures made to look like famous faces, including Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Donald Trump, George W. Bush, Bill Cosby, West’s wife Kim Kardashian West, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Kardashian West’s ex husband Ray Jay, and of course, Taylor Swift. The problem so many fans are having with it? All the figures are depicted nude in a large bed together. Many are wondering if West will find himself on the business end of a lawsuit. It doesn’t seem to phase the rapper though, as he tweeted, then later deleted, “Can someone sue me yet? # illwait”. The video has caused a stir on social media, and fans aren’t alone in their disdain for the video. Actress and writer Lena Dunham wrote a statement on Facebook slamming the video. She wrote, “Let’s break it down: at the same time Brock Turner is getting off with a light tap for raping an unconscious woman and photographing her breasts for a group chat… As assaults are Periscoped across the web and girls commit suicide after being exposed in ways they never imagined… While Bill Cosby’s crimes are still being uncovered and understood as traumas for the women he assaulted…” The Girls actress and creator went on to say seeing women she love depicted in such a way made her, “feel sad and unsafe and worried for the teenage girls who watch this and may not understand that grainy roving camera as the stuff of snuff films.” Looks like West has everyone talking again.

BET Awards
To end on a high note, we can’t forget to mention the 2016 BET Awards. The awards show was highly anticipated with performances dedicated to the late icon, Prince, being the focal point for many. Viewers were treated to a massive surprise as the show opened with a stellar performance by Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar. The singer and rapper took the stage to perform the song “Freedom” off of Beyoncé’s latest album, Lemonade. In addition, fans also had the chance to witness a moving and poignant speech from Grey’s Anatomy actor, Jesse Williams, as he accepted the Humanitarian Award. The actor’s speech has since been the talking point for many news outlets as he focused on issues such as institutional violence, cultural appropriation, and the plight of black women. “We’ve been floating this country on credit for centuries, yo. And we’re done watching, and waiting while this invention called whiteness uses and abuses us. Burying black people out of sight and out of mind, while extracting our culture, our dollars, our entertainment like oil — black gold. Ghettoizing and demeaning our creations then stealing them,” the actor said. Viewers and attendees alike have praised Williams for his thoughtful speech, including director Spike Lee and singer Justin Timberlake. Timberlake, however, found himself in hot water when one fan tweeted at the singer turned actor, making claims of cultural appropriation in his work. Timberlake later tweeted that he felt misunderstood, and apologized to those he may have offended.
