Last night’s episode is the last one we get for a full month. Sad face. Fortunately, it was a great episode, sets us up for the downhill run to the end of the season and when we get back in a month Tom Cavanagh so I promise we will survive. In the meantime I’ve got a spoiler packed recap of last night’s episode beyond the jump.
We open up with some security dudes at work talking about how their employer, Stagg Industruies, might be bought out. This discussion is short lived, though, because our security guys run into a villain we’ll find out is Abra Kadabra. Kadabra phases them into a glass tube-like container, fills it with water and the guards drown. The next day Barry and Iris are at Jitters with her dad and Cecile. The group talk about the engagement and Cecile offers the lovebirds tickets to Hamilton. In July. Iris and Barry realize that’s when Iris dies. Can’t be sad for long, though. There’s work to do.
Barry, Joe and Julian go to Stagg and find the drowned guards and figure out that there is a meta involved. While there they get an alert about a robbery in progress and Barry finds Kadabra mid-heist. This is when it gets weird. Kadabra reveals that he knows who the Flash is and that he knows Savitar. Gypsy shows up, everyone fights, and Kadabra gets away. Back at the lab Gypsy reveals that Kadabra is a time traveling criminal from the 64th century and that the uses fancy tech and calls it magic. The dude’s wanted for crimes on Earth-19. They get another alert and this time Barry, Wally, Cisco and Gyspy all go only to be tricked by the criminal’s hologram. Where’s Kadabra? STAR Labs. There’s tech there he wants to steal, but Barry shows up just in time, cuffing Kadabara who quips that he knows Savitar’s identity.
Barry knocks Kadabra out, Gypsy agrees to stay put until Barry gets the information he needs and Kadabra tries to make a deal. He won’t give them anything unless he’s allowed to go free. There’s an ultimatum there and it’s Iris dies or he goes free. This upsets Gypsy who tells Cisco that Kadabra has killed a ton of people on her world. Barry and Iris aren’t exactly in a great place either as they discuss what they should do. Barry wants to release him. Iris says he needs to stay in jail. At STAR, though, Joe decides to let Kadabra go. Except before Kadabra can say the words Gypsy shows up and the bad guy flees. As they try to stop him, Kadabra uses an explosive to escape. It leaves Caitlin gravely injured and she has Julian perform surgery while she talks him through it.
Joe and Gypsy fight about Kadabra and Cisco overhears and calls Gypsy out on it. This leads Gypsy to reveal that Kadabra murdered her partner who was also her boyfriend. She’s not going to be moved. She does, however, share a theory. Kadabra is stealing tech to build a time machine. He is trying to go home. Thus begins the chase. Kadabra tries to open up temporal breaches that he can navigate through. The team chases. At the last moment Barry knocks Kadabra out of his machine by jumping off a building. Kadabra’s machine goes through the breach. Kadabra doesn’t. Gypsy arrests him and is ready to take him back to her Earth. Kadabra tells Barry that they’re enemies in the future. With Thawne, Zoom, and DeVoe. He does not reveal Savitar’s identity and Gypsy takes him away.
Julian and Caitlin bond as she recovers. Barry tells Joe and Iris that he has a plan to save Iris that involves running to the future to find out what he needs to take down Savitar. Cisco brings Caitlin lime Jell-O, which she doesn’t like and HR returns as he’s been gone all episode. Everything seems to be going well, but then Caitlin’s vitals go nuts and she dies. Of course Julian can’t allow that to really happen. He yanks off her necklace and Caitlin’s meta powers kick in. When her eyes open Caitlin is still gone. Killer Frost is back.
So we have a month, Flash fans. Who do you think Savitar is? I have a couple of theories I’d love to discuss in the comments. Until April!
