Oh, to be young, in love, and on television’s most popular celebrity dancing competition. At least, that’s the case for some celebs this month. In this edition of “Entertainment Roundup,” we cover the newest member to the One Direction family, old Disney characters finding new love, and how to properly shake off a nude photo leak. Here’s what happened in March…
This month, One Direction’s Liam Payne shared a photo on his Instagram that left fans in a tizzy. Payne’s post confirmed that not only was his girlfriend and singer, Cheryl Cole, expecting, but she had given birth to a beautiful baby boy. “I’m incredibly happy to welcome our new baby boy into the world, it’s a moment that I will never forget for the rest of my life and my favourite memory I have so far…I’m completely in awe of his incredible mother and how she has been the whole way through this, she’s really made my dreams come true,” Payne wrote. The caption went along with a grainy photo of Payne holding his newborn son. While the couple has yet to name (or at least share the name) of their newest family member, fans of the One Direction singer are thrilled for the couple. This is an exciting time for the One Direction boys, as Louis Tomlinson recently performed his new single “Just Hold On” with DJ Steve Aoki, at the Ultra Miami music festival, Harry Styles annoucned a new single releasing on April 7th, along with a Saturday Night Live performance set for April 15th, and Niall Horan is continuing to support and grow his golf management company. Tomlinson also has a son, Freddie, just one year old. Do we sense a future band in the making…?
‘Dancing with the Stars’ Returns
The newest season of Dancing With The Stars kicked off this month, starring familiar faces like singer Charo, comedian Chris Kattan, The Bachelor’s Nick Viall, Glee‘s Heather Morris, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, and Fifth Harmony singer Normani Kordei, to name a few. Kattan, who many know from his time on Saturday Night Live, and the movie Night at The Roxbury, was the first celeb eliminated from the competition. Kattan has stated he previously broke his neck, which caused his performances to remain “stiff.” Meanwhile, on the “Pro” side of the ballroom, dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy underwent surgery for a calf injury he suffered during rehearsals with partner Heather Morris. It is unclear when Chmerkovskiy will return to the dance floor.
A First for Disney
With the release of its live-action Beauty & The Beast, many fans of the Mouse House were waiting on the edge of their seats to watch as Emma Watson made her Disney debut. But not long before the opening, it was announced that Disney would feature its first openly gay character, in the form of LeFou, played by Josh Gad. Gad, who has also voiced the character Olaf in Disney’s animated film Frozen, tweeted his approval for the decision writing, “Beyond proud of this.” Bill Condon, the director of the film, was the first to confirm the news, saying, “LeFou is somebody who on one day wants to be Gaston and on another day wants to kiss Gaston. He’s confused about what he wants. It’s somebody who’s just realizing that he has these feelings. And Josh makes something really subtle and delicious out of it. And that’s what has its payoff at the end, which I don’t want to give away. But it is a nice, exclusively gay moment in a Disney movie.”
Leaked Nudes? No Problem
Unfortunately for Ms. Watson, not every story that came out with her name this month was about her new film. A new crop of hacked nude photos were released around the internet this month, and included shots of Watson, actress Amanda Seyfried, and Demi Lovato. While Watson has remained mum on the leak, Seyfried has demanded the site hosting the photos take them down, as they were shared out without her consent. Meanwhile, singer Demi Lovato isn’t letting the situation bother her one bit. She took to her Twitter account this month to write, “I love how everyone’s freaking out about one picture. It’s not nude and it’s just cleavage.” She also reminded fans that she has done a nude photo shoot in 2015 for Vanity Fair, and shared the images by choice. “Besides the world has seen me nude BY CHOICE before.”
