Welcome back! This week Cisco meets Gypsy’s dad (guest star Danny Trejo) which does not go well and Team Flash deals with a metahuman who has some very stretchy powers. Spoilers from here forward!
Central CIty Mayor Bellows is up for reelection and the episode kicks off with a stop at the Central City Police Department. Joe’s not into it so he and Barry go to talk about that buseload of metas issues from last week. You see, over 900 people rode that bus the day the metas were made so finding those impacted might take awhile. Joe hasn’t told anyone about Cecile yet, but he seems happier and the pair head to STAR Labs where they run into Breacher. Cisco introduces him (and, for the record, Cisco’s own introduction to him was pretty rocky as Breacher crashed his makeout session with Gypsy.)
So the team goes over the bus evidence and they discover a business card from Ralph Dibny, a former CCPD officer fired for being dirty. Dibny is now a private investigator so Joe and Barry go to talk to him. Dibny doesn’t really want to tell them anything so Joe and Barry leave, but as they do some goons show up. Those goons dangle Dibny from the roof causing his powers to activate and he stretches harmlessly to the ground.
And yes, Barry and Joe see this. They take Dibny back to STAR to try to work out his powers. Meanwhile Cisco, Gypsy and Breacher go to Jitters for coffee and as soon as Gypsy turns he back, Breacher informs Cisco that he’s not worthy and he will be hunted. Run, Cisco, run!
Caitlin things she can help Dibny, but needs his pre-meta DNA to do it. This sends Iris and Barry to his office to find it, but they find a bomb. Barry gets them to safety just in the nick of time but Iris also grabbed a brush from the office for Caitlin. Joe then shows up and reveals that there were 15 calls between Dibny and the Mayor. Dun dun dun.
Cisco continues to try to evade Breacher and Harry suggest he set a trap for Gypsy’s dad while Caitlin gives Dibny a solution that lets him snap back to shape. She also gives him a suggestion on how to control his power which he uses to give himself a six pack.
Barry and Joe talk to the Mayor about the calls and the Mayor reveals that he cheated on his wief and Dibny was blackmailing him. After the conversation, however, the Mayor calls the goons from earlier and orders them to kill Dibny and Joe and Barry.
Cisco manages to get Breacher into his trap and things he has won, but Breacher uses a crazy looking knife to get out. Run, Cisco, run! At Barry’s apartment, Joe comes over to talk to Barry about giving Dibny a second chance to be a good person, but the goons show up at the door and try to kill Barry and Joe. Not on Barry’s watch. He saves Joe and knocks the cops out but realizes that Dibny is in danger.
Speaking of Dibny, he’s meeting in the alley with the Mayor. The Mayor has a briefcase of money in exchange for the photos, but Dibny just gives them to him. He doesn’t want to be dirty anymore. Unfortunatly, the Mayor isn’t a nice guy. He pulls a gun and shoots Dibny, but the bullet just bounces off. Barry shows up but so does Breacher, who has mistaken Dibny for one of the people who destroyed his home world.
Chaos ensues and the Mayor takes Joe away in his helicopter at gunpoint while Breacher is about to kill both Barry and Dibny before Cisco shows up and stops him. However, Cisco and Barry are both powerless to help Joe, leading Barry to unmask in front of Dibny. Dibny then chooses to be a hero and stretches up to let Barry save Joe. And during the rescue? Joe blurts out that Cecile is having a baby!
And now we party. Everyone is happy about the baby. Cisco has earned Breacher’s respect. We learn that Gypsy’s real name is Cynthia. It’s a nice moment.
But then Caitlin goes home to find a creepy warning from her old bar boss scratched into her door and when Barry goes to offer Dibny a place on Team Flash, Dibny name drops Devoe.
Devoe. Aka THE THINKER.
