Last night was the mid-season finale episode and while there was a bit of Christmas cheer, there was also a huge cliffhanger at the end of the episode that may change everything for Barry Allen. As always, spoilers from this point on.

We open with Harry and Cisco decorating (or trying to decorate) STAR Labs for Christmas, though they seem to be having some trouble with the tree and Ralph isn’t any help. Over at the WestAllen loft, Barry and Iris are opening up wedding gifts. Iris throws some shade at Felicity’s crashing of their wedding and Barry chooses to clean up with normal speed, explaining that he doesn’t feel the need to be the Flash around Iris.

Meanwhile, DeVoe’s muscular degeneration has gotten worse. He has trouble buttoning his sweater.

Caitlin goes to Jitters and has coffee alone. You see, it turns out that people have been hanging out with Killer Frost and enjoying it so Cailtin feels left out. Harry comes in and gives her a pep talk, but Amunet shows up, causes a ruckus and takes Caitlin. Around the same time, The Thinker attacks Barry and Iris, kidnapping Barry.

Iris runs to STAR to tell everyone Barry’s been taken, but Joe updates her that Caitlin has also been kidnapped. Cisco tries to find Barry by vibing, but can’t. That’s because Barry is in The Thinker’s lair, trapped in some sort of special force field. Meanwhile, Amunet has taken Caitlin to some sort of hospital set up where she needs her to save the life of a meta that she shot. If she doesn’t? Amunet will kill them both. The meta, Dominic, has interesting telepathic abilities.

At the Thinker’s lair Barry tries to figure out what the bad guy is up do and Joe shows up at the door. Joe tries to shake down DeVoe about where Barry is, but pretty much gets nowhere. In the lair, The Mechanic approaches Barry and he tries to get more out of her while he tries to phase through the force field, but neither work.

Wells goes bac to STAR and watches as Ralph and Cisco nearly get into a fight. Iris separates them and then Wells tells her that they really can only focus on finding one person, Barry or Caitlin. Iris chooses Caitlin. Speaking of Caitlin, she and Dominic try to escape, but are caught. Amunet then weirdly reveals her history as a flight attendant to Caitlin and again threatens her to do the job she was kidnapped for. Caitlin then operates on Dominic, but he begins crashing. Turns out to be a ruse. Caitlin and Dominic escape and are met by Cisco and Dibny who get them out of there.

At the lair, Barry has gotten out of his cell. This prompts a chase with The Thinker flying around in his chair trying to catch Barry, but Barry gets the upper hand. The chair crashes into the river and Barry goes back to STAR Labs. Joe says he still wants to do the Christmas party so everyone heads over to his house, where Ralph has decorated as a form of apology. Dominic, the meta Caitlin saved, comes to the party as well and it’s festive. But then, Barry gets a message on his phone that there’s been a security alarm at the loft. Barry goes to check it out. While there, his phone rings and while it sounds like Dominic, it’s actually The Thinker. You see, h transferred his consciousness into Dominic’s body. That’s why Amunet had taken him. The Thinker bought Dominic to take his body.

But what about DeVoe’s real body? Well, he has stabbed his own body with a knife he sent to Barry as a wedding gift and left it there, framing Barry for murder. Moments later, the Central City Police break down the door and arrests Barry for the murder.

When we get back after the holidays? Ten bucks (figuratively speaking) says we’re getting “The Trial of The Flash.”

That cliffhanger left me with so many questions! Will Barry reveal his identity on the stand? What happened to Dominic’s conscience – was he transferred to DeVoe’s body or has he been hijacked? How will Team Flash defeat The Thinker?
