Spa Noodles: The Ramen Noodle Bath

If you made me sit down and make a list of things I found to be comforting (as opposed to things I’m afraid of because that list was not fun to make,) I’m pretty sure it would be a very normal list. My fleece blanket would be on that list, as would a hot cup […]

Style in the Mail: A Look at Gwynnie Bee

You can either love or hate shopping. Even if you love shopping, it isn’t always a straightforward affair. Sure, you can try things on in-store, but until you really incorporate an article of clothing into your life and wear it around, it’s hard to tell how it will really work. And if it doesn’t? You […]

Changing the World by Changing the Face of Beauty

When we think of models and ad campaigns, there are likely a lot of images that cross our minds. Some are sexy, some are sweet, but almost all of them have something very basic in common: No matter what the ethnicity or gender of the model, they are always “perfect.” Perfect skin, hair, teeth, bodies—they […]

Movie Review: What the Future Holds for Disney’s “Tomorrowland”

I have always been fascinated with Disney’s theme park attraction called Tomorrowland. I’ve never actually been to a Disney theme park, but I got my first glimpse of the beautiful, futuristic world in old filmstrip reels in elementary school. I don’t even remember why we were being shown these ancient filmstrips (it was, after all, […]

On Action and Acting with Tomorrowland’s Fraser Corbett

Disney’s Tomorrowland hit theaters last Friday and for many it is just a movie and a great way to spend a couple of hours escaping reality, but for actor and stuntman Fraser Corbett it is just another moment in the fulfillment of a dream. Growing up on a farm in British Columbia, Corbett always knew […]

The Pretty Files: Tan Time

Tanning, either in the sunshine or in tanning beds, will kill you. I’m not usually hyperbolic, but cancer really is no joke. Tanning also really damages your skin. It can cause discoloration beyond just the red of a sunburn and it causes you to age prematurely. These things are unfortunate because the golden brown of […]

The FlashBack: ‘The Flash’ – Episode 20 ‘The Trap’

This episode, aptly titled “The Trap,” picks up exactly where we left off last week: in the closet of the future with Gideon, Dr. Creepy’s AI. I, for one, am comforted briefly by Gideon because of the helpful future “Iris West-Allen” byline that gives me hope that Iris grows a brain sometime soon. Gideon just continues to help us all out by telling us lots of good things about the future, specifically that Barry gets a big promotion to director of the Central City Forensics Department.

The Pretty Files: Acne and Breakouts

When I sat down to plan this month’s Pretty Files, my plan was to write about self tanners. As a vampire-pale human summer is my nemesis and the idea that a self tanner might keep me from blinding the planet was very inviting. I lined up what I wanted to try and some techniques to […]
