This year has plenty of fantastic movies in store for us, and with those movies come a number of rising stars. Whether they’re brand new to the world of Hollywood, or they’ve been in less prominent roles in years past, here’s a group of actors and actresses who are sure to take the movie world by storm.
Ansel Elgort

In 2013, Elgort played Tommy Ross in the Carrie remake, which marked his first acting gig. This year, Elgort will star in two movie adaptations of wildly popular young adult novels. He will play Caleb Prior in Divergent, which hits theaters this March, and Augustus Waters in The Fault in Our Stars, which will be out in June. With roles in highly anticipated movies like these, he’ll surely be propelled to young Hollywood stardom.

Elle Fanning

Fanning has had numerous roles in television shows since she was a toddler, and has had small parts in well-known movies such as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Super 8. According to her IMDB page, 2014 will be a huge year for Fanning. She has roles in four movies slated for release this year, including Maleficent and The Boxtrolls.

Joel Kinnaman

Kinnaman is a Swedish actor with plenty of credits to his name, including The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and AMC’s The Killing. He hasn’t yet met the fame his acting skills merit, but that’s sure to change when he takes over the title role in next month’s RoboCop. He has three other projects slated for 2014 as well, and Kinnaman is sure to become a household name.

Saoirse Ronan

With plenty of acting roles under her belt, Ronan is geared up for a successful year. In years past, she’s been in The Lovely Bones, The Host, and The Way Back. She is in three movies set to debut this year, including the highly anticipated Wes Anderson film, The Grand Budapest Hotel this March.

Theo James

James is a British actor with several small credits to his name, including BBC’s Downton Abbey. This year James will star in the movie adaptation of Divergent as Four, and has two other movies slated for release later this year. It’s a safe bet that his roles this year will lead to plenty more in the future.

Jessica Brown Findlay

Findlay is certainly well-known for her role in BBC’s Downton Abbey as Lady Sybil Branson. Perhaps this year she’ll be even more successful on the big screen for her role in Winter’s Tale alongside Colin Farrell and Russell Crowe. She has three other movies slated for release this year as well.

Gabriella Wilde

Wilde played Sue in 2013’s Carrie remake, on top of a few smaller roles on television like the BBC’s Doctor Who. This year, she has two movies coming out. The British actress is sure to impress in the remake of the 1981 film of the same name, Endless Love as Jade Butterfield out this Valentine’s Day.

Kit Harrington

Harrington has met success on television, starring in the hit series Game of Thrones as Jon Snow. That success will likely translate to the big screen when he stars in historical action adventure, Pompeii next month. He will also voice the role of Eret in the animated How to Train Your Dragon 2, out this summer.

Booboo Stewart

You might remember Stewart as Seth from the Twilight saga, but according to his IMDB page, you’ll soon know him for a lot more. Stewart has a whopping 14 projects currently listed for this year. One of those movies includes X-Men: Days of Future Past which comes out this May.

Brenton Thwaites

Thwaites has a handful of credits to his name, but in 2014 he will be taking the big screen with some big roles. He will play Prince Philip in Maleficent this March and Jonas in the movie adaptation of The Giver, which will hit theaters this summer.
