Not sure what the biggest entertainment news stories in August were? We’ve got it covered! Below are some of the month’s biggest celebrity headlines. Make sure to check back every month for a recap of the most-talked-about stories in Hollywood!
They Are Never, Ever Getting Back Together
2015 has seen the loss of many fan-favorite A-list couples, and August was no exception.
Gwen & Gavin: This one was quite a shock to many. After 13 years of seemingly blissful marriage, No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani filed for divorce from her singer husband, Gavin Rossdale, earlier this month. Stefani cited “irreconcilable differences” as the cause for the split, and the two remain dedicated parents to their three sons, Kingston, Zuma and Apollo.
Megan & Brian: Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green called it quits after 11 years together, Us Weekly reports. While no reports on what exactly caused the split have come forward, sources close to the couple say things have been “rocky” for the twosome for quite some time. The couple, who share two kids, have not yet publicly commented on the split.
Zayn & Perrie: After quitting One Direction in March, it seems Zayn Malik is ending all kinds of relationships. According to The Sun, Malik reportedly sent Perrie Edwards a text message in late July to end their two-year engagement. Edwards has since celebrated the success of her group’s single “Black Magic” in the U.S. and U.K., while Malik is busy working on his (truly) solo career. And speaking of One Direction…

One Direction: While this one isn’t officially a break-up, it still hurts our hearts to know we won’t be getting new music from Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan after the release of their upcoming album (reportedly due out this November). Reports have surfaced that the foursome will take a break starting in March of 2016 for at least a year. While members Horan, Payne and Tomlinson have assured fans via Twitter their separation is just a break and not the end, many fans are skeptical they will see the return of their favorite British and Irish boy-banders.
Two is Better Than One
Despite the seemingly endless list of celebrity couples calling it quits this summer, many relationships have blossomed this month. Here are a few of our favorites.
Jen and Justin: Even though they have been a couple for a few years, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Thoroux deserve a spot on this list. The pair became engaged in August 2012, and finally made it official 2 years later! They couple tied the knot at their Bel Air home earlier this month, after countless speculation of their relationship ending. Congrats to the happy couple! She is also said to have taken advantage of the face lift options in NYC, and plans to look young and fresh at her wedding.
Gigi Hadid and Joe Jonas: This is one of our favorites, if for nothing more than their couple name, “GI Joe.” Gigi Hadid, one of fashion’s favorite new models, and DJ, Joe Jonas, were friends for years before they ever made it official. Hadid was seeing singer Cody Simpson until earlier this year. After their split, Jonas came in and swept the model off her feet! With one of the most creative couple names in the biz, this is one pair we hope to see for a long time.

Taylor Swift and…Hollywood: Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, you know Taylor Swift is out and about promoting her album 1989 with one of the most-talked-about tours this decade. Night after night, Swift has brought out special guests from Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner to Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow. The multi-Grammy-winning artist has everyone in Hollywood under her spell (even Apple!). While we love seeing her happy with new beau Calvin Harris, we have to say we’re even more in love with Swift’s relationship with Tinsel Town.
Nip, Tuck
It’s no secret plastic surgery is a hot commodity for members of Hollywood’s elite. While many are willing to test the waters, very few will admit to having work done. But in August, two of pop culture’s leading ladies owned up to their decisions to go under the knife.
Iggy Azalea: While Iggy is to “biggie to be here stressing,” she did admit to feeling less-than-stellar after people on social media repeatedly mocked her appearance. Azalea even stopped using Twitter for a brief period due to the hate she received from strangers. The “Fancy” singer opened up to Seventeen about her plastic surgery. While she didn’t outright admit to having a nose job, the Australian beauty did cop to having her breasts augmented. She said, “Denying it is lame. I don’t think you should be ashamed if you made a change to yourself, which is why I’ve spoken about the changes I’ve made, like with my breasts.” She’s honest, and we love it!
Ariel Winter: Many may recognize the 17-year-old from the Emmy-winning show, Modern Family, but Ariel Winter is one of the more private celebs in Hollywood. Winter isn’t usually found basking in the limelight, but she did open up to Glamour about her decision to undergo breast reduction surgery. Winter admitted to having body image issues, and felt her chest limited her clothing options to looks she deemed “too mature.” Before or after, the young starlet always looks beautiful!

The VMAs
Minaj, Swift and Cyrus, oh my! Music’s biggest acts hit the stage at the VMAs last night after waiting weeks to see the one and only Miley Cyrus host the festivities. This year’s show was one of the most talked-about on social media, and we have these lovely ladies to thank for it. As many may recall, Nicki Minaj tweeted out her disappointment over the lack of a Video of the Year nomination for her music video, “Anaconda”, saying videos featuring “slim” women get all the nominations. Taylor Swift, who received that coveted nom for her video “Bad Blood”, believed Minaj’s tweets to be directed at her. Swift responded which lead to a confrontation between the two pop stars on social media’s biggest platform. Not long after, Swift issued an apology to Minaj saying she misunderstood Minaj’s original point. Thankfully, the two talented superstars made up. (They even performed together at the opening of the show!)
Whether you tuned in to see Cyrus’ onstage antics, or Minaj and Swift in the same room for the first time since their Twitter confrontation, last night’s show was not one to miss! For a full recap of the show, check out our VMAs wrap-up!
Movie Magic and Madness
Summertime means summer blockbusters, and we rounded up two of the bigger releases from the month of August.

We Are Your Friends: Zac Efron fans, unite! It’s been way too long since we’ve seen our favorite High School Musical alum on the silver screen (Neighbors was released in May 2014. A year is too long). But were critics fond of his big-screen return? Unfortunately, the flick only received a 43% on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics claim Efron’s on-screen chemistry with costar Emily Ratajkowski just wasn’t there. We have to say, we can’t complain about that…
The Fantastic Four: Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell. How can this not be an amazing movie? But, if you’ve heard anything about the Marvel remake, you know it wasn’t well-received. The comic-based film only earned a 9% on Rotten Tomatoes (if you’re unsure, it’s like a test score. Imagine getting a 9 on that calculus exam…). Critics slammed the reboot, calling it dull and unnecessary. Ouch.
