Have You Heard?

After weeks of their nasty separation made public, with leaked videos and restraining orders, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have finalized their divorce. The pair reached a $7 million settlement, with Heard withdrawing her restraining order against the 53-year-old actor in the process. Heard has announced she will be donating her entire settlement to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union. Upon the announcement of their settlement, The Rum Diary stars released a statement in which they vow will be the last on the subject. “Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity. There will be no further public statements about this matter.”
Never Too Late To Say Sorry

Unfortunately, the month didn’t look good for another couple-turned-tabloid fare. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez launched a flurry of “Jelena” tweets and Instagram comments after the two seemingly got into quite the disagreement online. Bieber, who has been recently linked to Sofia Richie (daughter to Lionel and sister to Nicole), posted a photo of pair with a caption threatening to quite Instagram if fans continued to be disrespectful to his “friends.” Catching wind of the post, Gomez reportedly left a comment on the image saying, “If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol. it should be special between you two only. Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you.” Bieber allegedly replied in a separate comment in which he insinuated Gomez “used [him] for attention.” Gomez again seemingly responded claiming Bieber cheated on her throughout their relationship. Finally, Bieber reportedly brought Zayn Malik into the mix writing, “I cheated… Oh I forgot about you and Zayn?” The debacle ended in Bieber following through on his promise, and deleting his Instagram (which he brought back for a few minutes before deactivating again). Gomez has since posted her alleged response to the feud on Snapchat, with an image of the words, “What I said was selfish and pointless.” Only time will tell if this really is the end of their complicated relationship. Meanwhile, Gomez announced yesterday that she will be taking some time off of her busy schedule to deal with anxiety, depression, and panic attacks head on. The singer and actress says her lupus diagnosis (which she revealed she had around this time last year) causes these symptoms. We wish Selena nothing but the best.

As many music lovers know, August/September marks the annual MTV Video Music Awards show. This year, fans from nearly every genre were treated to a spectacular show with performances from The Chainsmokers and Halsey, Britney Spears, three sets from Rihanna, and a show-stopping performance of Lemonade by Beyoncé. The night was full of tweetable moments, from Kanye West’s latest Taylor Swift rant and newest music video, to Drake public declaration of love for Rihanna. Rihanna received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, won in previous years by Beyoncé and West. Beyoncé took home top honor of the night with the Video of the Year moonman, among 7 other VMAs that night, surpassing only Madaonna for most MTV VMAs ever.

Do you prefer realty shows to music? ABC has just the thing! The network announced their lineup for the 23rd season of Dancing With The Stars, and it’s shaping up to be an interesting one! Olympic gymnast Lauren Hernandez, television host Amber Rose, and Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte are all set to join the new season. Lochte’s announcement may come as a surprise to many after he infamously claimed, and later admitted as a fabrication, he and some fellow teammates were mugged in Rio during the Olympic games. He will surely further acknowledge the controversy during the show, and hopefully win back America’s heart with some moves on dry land. Superfans of the show can also look forward to the return of at least one Hough! Derek Hough, brother to fellow dancer Julianne, announced he will be returning for the newest season of the show. Fans are still awaiting Julianne’s confirmation that she too will step back into the ballroom. Stay tuned.

Sadly, the month of August ended on a much sadder note than expected. Beloved actor Gene Wilder lost his battle with Alzheimer’s disease this month at the age of 83. His nephew released a statement confirming the news to movie-lovers everywhere. Wilder has starred in many beloved films such as Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Mel Brooks’ The Producers. Brooks tweeted about the actor’s passing, writing, “Gene Wilder-One of the truly great talents of our time.
