Oh the weather outside is frightful, but our Idols our still delightful. Yes, with Thanksgiving in the books, the Holiday season is upon us and that means an influx of new Idol tunes, as well as some other news from our alumni. Let’s check out what they had in store for us this month and in the months to come…

New Music

Speaking of the holidays, Season 8 winner Kris Allen has prepared a real treat for fans with his new holiday album “Somethin’ About Christmas” released on Nov. 4 (available on iTunes). The album’s tracklisting features some new tunes penned by Allen himself as well as some seasonal classics like “Jingle Bells” and “Silent Night.” Check out our writer’s quick take on it here!

Season 7 Runner-up, David Archuleta, is also back on the scene with a video for his new single “Numb.” In an interview with Billboard, the younger David described the song as a testament to his determination to get back into the music business.

Also on the docket with new music, Season 15 cast-off Mackenzie Bourg has released a new single entitled “Little Moon” on iTunes that shows off his acoustic style and strong lyricism. Other alum like Season 14’s JAX, Season 15 winner Trent Harmon and the one and only Kelly Clarkson have teased at new music with JAX and Trent’s EPs coming in the new year and Kelly’s new single slated for April. We can’t wait! To tide you over, you can hear Kelly’s incomparable vocals on the new Hamilton Mixtape with her take on the smash Broadway musical’s song “It’s Quiet Uptown” now available on iTunes.

On the TV front, Adam Lambert continued his success story when he led his contestant, Isaiah Firebrace, to victory on X Factor Australia’s eighth season as his mentor. You can check out recordings of some of Isaiah’s performances on iTunes.

Season 6 winner, Jordin Sparks, also made a surprise appearance on the hit ABC show “The Real O’Neals” and as reported by Entertainment Weekly, even got to play herself in a fantasy sequence for one of the main characters, Kenny.

Last, but definitely not least in the hearts of fans, is Carrie Underwood who is fresh off a successful gig hosting the 50th annual Country Music Awards (CMAs) and also snagged herself three wins at the American Music Awards (AMAs). Carrie is truly one of the shows brightest stars!

Other News

And in other news, Idol fixture and host Ryan Seacrest got to play the role of “Man of Honor” at his sister’s wedding this past month as reported by Womanista. Congratulations to him and his sister, the pictures are too cute!
