Supergirl is a show that, at its heart, is all about family. Last night Kara and Alex were reunited with their dad, Jeremiah. But was it a happy family reunion? Let’s find out in this week’s spoiler-filled recap!
Good morning! Mon-El wakes up in Kara’s bed alone. He’s not quite sure what to think about that, but Kara soon arrives with coffee and flowers. Yes, Kara’s adorable. She’s happy to be able to kiss someone without causing them bodily harm (like breaking a nose) and Mon-El? He wants to spend the day holed up in the apartment with Kara. Unfortunately Kara says they need to be at the DEO in 20 minutes and, by the way, Mon-El needs to not talk about their relationship. Kara doesn’t want commentary.
So Mon-El immediately tells everyone about the relationship. J’onn tells them they have to inform human resources and if that wasn’t enough it’s the Cadmus alarm time. Supergirl and J’onn fly off to intercept the Cadmus convoy. What ends up being inside the truck is none other than Jeremiah Danvers. Back at the DEO it’s happy family reunion time. Jeremiah even gets a round of applause. Daddy Danvers explains that Cadmus kept him alive so he could turn the real Hank Henshaw into Cyborg Superman and also to build other weapons. Mon-El, who shows up about then, points out that Cadmus was pretty careless in their transport, but Jeremiah says Cadmus has a new nuclear weapon. They plan to detonate it and blame aliens. Where that nuclear energy came from, by the way? Kara’s heat vision.
How’s the team going to find this bomb? Jeremiah suggests that Winn use Kara’s energy signature to do so. Mon-El thinks this is all too easy. Was Cadmus really taking Supergirl’s energy? And can Jeremiah be trusted? Good question, but it has to wait since Kara invited Mon-El to family dinner. At dinner, Jeremiah meets Maggie, tries to get back in good with Eliza, and everyone toasts to Jeremiah’s return. Jeremiah asks J’onn to come back to the DEO and J’onn welcomes him back. Mon-El is still not having this, though which leads Kara to ask Mon-El to leave. Daddy Danvers walks Mon-El out and ominously tells our alien friend that he knows who he really is and Kara wouldn’t like it.
Kicked out of dinner Mon-El goes to meet wtih Winn at the alien Noonan’s, sharing his concerns about Jeremiah. Winn thinks Mon-El is being paranoid, but Mon-El makes his case. Winn agrees to help Mon-El, but extracts a promise that Mon-El has to treat Kara right. The next day, J’onn gives Jeremiah a tour of the DEO that ends in Jeremiah being assigned to the medbay. Once left alone Jeremiah tries to access the mainframe and Winn sees him. Winn tells Mon-El and Kara, but Jeremiah explains that he’s just checking out old casefiles. Alex walks away with Jeremiah. After yelling at Kara. When Kara tries to apologize, Alex says that she’s either part of the family or she’s not.
Back at the alien bar, Mon-El asks Winn for advice on how to be a better boyfriend. Winn wisely tells him to stop trying to protect Kara and to stop trying so darn hard. It’s solid advice interupted by an alert. The Cadmus bomb has been found. Alex, Mon-El, Supergirl, and the DEO strike team go to intercept the bomb but there’s nothing there. J’onn figures out something is wrong. He also figures out that he can’t read Jeremiah’s mind and that Jeremiah has a cyborg arm. J’onn is quickly overpowered by Jeremiah, then attacks Winn and downloads the DEO mainframe before grabbing a gun and fleeing. When the gang returns to the DEO, they find that Jeremiah turned traitor. Fortunately Winn planted a tracker on him.
Supergirl and Alex track Jeremiah down and find him meeting with Henshaw and Mama Luthor. Henshaw blows up a nearby bridge to get Supergirl out of the way leaving Alex to go after Jeremiah and the others. Alex pulls a gun on Jeremiah, but won’t kill him. Jeremiah runs away.
Back at the DEO Alex has to tell her mom what hapened before going home and getting stupid drunk. Maggie comes over and Alex just breaks down. At Kara’s apartment, Mon-El shows up to check on her and wisely asks her what she needs. Kara says she just wants him to be there with her. Winn then calls. Jeremiah stole the National Alien Registry. Cadmus now has information on all of the aliens.
And at Cadmus? Mama Luthor says that she has a deal with Jeremiah and then shows him a massive spaceship.
Next week? Snapper interviews Supergirl! See you then!
