Appearances
On August 27, 2017 new Idol judge Katy Perry will be taking the stage at The Forum to host the MTV Video Music Awards. Hopefully the new gig will help Perry prepare for her time on camera mentoring a new crop of contestant when Idol returns but, just in case, one of the shows alum and friend to the singer — Adam Lambert – has been giving Perry some tips including giving contestants specific rather than vague critiques to help them improve. Good advice, Adam!

The legacy of the show itself has also seen plenty of shake ups this month, with Ryan Seacrest finally striking a deal to return as the host when the show comes back in March of next year. Rumors have also been swirling about who will occupy the other two spots on the judging panel next to Katy Perry. Current favorites include the legendary Lionel Richie, pop singer-songwriter Charlie Puth (who has some experience mentoring contestants on NBC’s The Voice), and country superstar Luke Bryan. Ex-judge Keith Urban is apparently also in talks to return.
Also, with the show amping up for a triumphant return, they’ve announced a massive schedule of auditions to search for the next Superstar. Those interested should check out the Idol website.
On a more serious note, Season 11 alum Erika Van Pelt has also shared a link to a GoFundMe campaign to help raise money for her dad’s cancer care. Definitely a worthy cause and we hope he gets the care he needs!
Who do you hope Idol seals a deal with to judge? And which new Idol music will you be checking out? Let me know in the comments!
