It’s gonna be…well, actually May has come and gone, making those *NSYNC memes feel all too fleeting. Along with the memes and final bouts of cool weather went another month of entertainment news stories that had plenty of us talking. This month, we dive in to new couples, a royal wedding, and at least one fall from grace. Here are the most-talked about stories in Hollywood in May.

Roseanne
While many fans were overjoyed to learn their former favorite sitcom, Roseanne, would be returning to the small screen this year, the star herself lost support and her show in one fell swoop. Roseanne Barr, a well-known conservative and Trump-supporter, took to Twitter this month to make some less-than-savory tweets about President Obama’s former administration advisor, Valerie Jarrett. Barr tweeted, “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” mocking Jarrett’s appearance in the racist tweet. While Barr has since removed the tweet and apologized on her Twitter account, ABC was quick to announce the cancellation of the show, citing Barr’s words as “abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values.” Co-stars of the show, Sara Gilbert and Michael Fishman (who played the title character’s kids Darlene and DJ, respectively) both spoke out against Barr’s tweets, echoing the sentiments of ABC.

In one of the more surprising stories this month, speculation has been swirling in headlines in recent weeks that a romance between the youngest Jonas Brother, Nick, and actress Priyanka Chopra has been secretly brewing. Jonas and Chopra were first spotted at the 2017 Met Gala red carpet, where they posed for photos together. Fast forward a year later, and they’re the talk of the town. Sources tell Us Weekly the pair was spotted attending a concert for Beauty and the Beast Live at the Hollywood Bowl earlier this month. While their romance seems relatively new, we hope to see much more of them as a duo. Only time will tell!

Foul Freeman
In another disappointing story this month, Academy Award-winner, Morgan Freeman, has joined the long list of male Hollywood stars accused of sexual harassment. A story by CNN shared this month told the account of a young production assistant on the set of 2017’s Going In Style, detailing what she claims as harassment from the actor for the 7-month long production. The assistant accused Freeman of attempting to lift her skirt on several occasions, and made comments to her during the duration of filming. In the article, 16 others have either told their own stories of alleged harassment by Mr. Freeman, or allege they witnessed the incidents themselves. Since the story broke, Freeman’s lawyer has issued a statement demanding the news network retract the story and apologize. Freeman’s lawyer claims there was personal bias from the author, who claims she was on the receiving end of uncomfortable comments allegedly made by Freeman during a press junket for Going In Style. His lawyer also claims the author “baited and prodded” witnesses for the article. CNN says they stand by their story.

When Harry Met Meghan
Thankfully, we’re ending this month’s roundup on a lighter note, thanks to a certain royal couple. This month, Prince Harry married American actress Meghan Markle at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor in a beautiful and multi-cultural ceremony. The guests included some of the most famous faces in the world, such as George and Amal Clooney, Victoria and David Beckham, and American queen, Oprah, herself. Markle became the Duchess of Sussex in a custom Givenchy gown, followed by a gorgeous Stella McCartney gown for the send-off. The biggest of congratulations to the gorgeous couple!
