With summer officially here and warm weather brewing for much of the country, it’s time to relax with a cool, summer wine. Just in time for your refreshing poolside enjoyment and stellar BBQ parties, it’s no secret wine is one of the best ways to enjoy the season.

Whether it’s a hot day with a chilled rosé or a cool summer night with a white, we look at six of the best wines you can pick up this season to kick back with friends and family.

Trader Joe’s Simpler Wines

Trader Joe’s is a more laid back approach to summer wines with its sparkling white and rosé wines available in a 4-pack of 187 ml cans. The new line of sparkling vino is the brainchild of the beloved supermarket and one of its Italian suppliers that just knew we needed something to make this upcoming season über relaxing. With a floral bouquet and effervescence that provides an instant party-like atmosphere upon first sip, Simpler Wines provide customers the experience of “vino frizzante” without the hassle of a fancy opener or glassware. According to the press release, the white wine has “notes of juicy honeydew and fresh-cut herbs,” while the rosé has mineral notes with red fruit flavors.

Barrymore by Carmel Road 2015 Monterey Pinot Grigio

From her eponymous wine label, the light-bodied wine by beloved actress Drew Barrymore, boasts refreshing citrus and tropical notes perfect for the season. Honeydew melon and lemon flavors combine with minerality from ancient rocks to create the wine’s signature acidity. Best of all, it’s grown along the Monterey Coast in California, has a moderate alcohol level and pairs well with salads to bring out its gentle notes and flavors.

Black Box: Limited Edition Rosé

We know what you’re thinking: boxed wine? Sure, boxed wine got a bad reputation with many likening the idea to middle school tetra packs, but this is nothing like that. Black Box Wines released their boxed rosé built around the dark skinned grape, Syrah. Its fruity flavor profile is both crisp and refreshing with enticing aromas and flavors of fresh strawberry, watermelon and delicate white peach. Airy and light, the flavors are diverse and refreshingly light. Its fruit-forward palette pairs easily with a diverse selection of summer friendly foods from antipasto spreads and fresh salads, and perfect for a night in with Netflix on the couch in your pajamas.

If you ask us, rosé is always in season and Barrymore knows how to do it. Perfect to bring along to that elegant luncheon or dinner party with friends, this delicate wine boasts a light floral and citrus aroma that is both vibrant and fresh with flavors of red fruits, notes of peach and apricot for a crisp drink perfect for sharing with friends over a light meal.

Caves d’Esclans Whispering Angel Rose

This pale, orange-pink rosé wine is a real charmer. In addition to being farmed by local grape growers, this sweet wine boasts an aroma of fresh red berries, nectarine and white flowers. Not to mention, a palate that offers delicate raspberry and tangerine flavors, with deep flavors of white peach. The Whispering Angel rosé also possesses great depth on top of its vibrant energy that springs up zesty orange pith and berry skin notes.

Sounds like you have a good selection of stores to choose from? Generally I like a good Beaujolais well chilled for my summer red and a generic Sauvignon Blanc usually from New Zealand for my summer white. English Sparkling wine has become my fizz of choice especially from Chapel Down or Nyetimber estates but i suppose you can’t get them?
