Man vs. Monster: GODZILLA’s Patrick Sabongui

Between writing, directing, and producing, many of today’s Hollywood actors wear several different hats when it comes to the projects they choose to work on. Variety is the spice of life, and actors who solely act are becoming less and less common as the years go on. But actor Patrick Sabongui chose to add a different title onto his resume: stunt man.

American Idol XIII: Top 5 Choose Not To Stay Alive, Top 4 Are No More

The Top 5 show featured the contestants picking from a list of songs chosen by the twitter verse. Needless to say, I had high hopes because I figured the Idol audience could pick some really great songs that would push the contestants out of their boundaries. Let’s see if I was right…

Chatting with Maid Marian: Christie Laing on the OUAT Finale’s Big Twist

After Snow White and company spent the better half of the third season trying to defeat Zelena (better known as The Wicked Witch of the West), you’d think the witch’s death would mean happily ever after for our fairy tale heroes. Alas, that is not how things work on ABC’s Once Upon a Time. Sunday’s 2-hour finale found Emma and Hook sent back to the past via Zelena’s time portal, witnessing our favourite fairy tales unravel all over again — and trying their best not to change the future.

‘Penny Dreadful’ is a Bloody Good Time

In these past few months, a new trend on the small screen has seen well known filmmakers turning to major networks to share quality stories with audiences. With networks easing the transition and helping blur the lines of film with television, a lot of shows on prominent networks like HBO and Showtime are seeing shorter seasons that lure major stars. The latest to breath life on the boob tube comes care of Showtime, with their new Gothic horror series titled Penny Dreadful.

American Idol XIII: Top 7 and Top 6 Performances – “Choose Wisely America”

After losing Malaya the week after the save was used, I didn’t know what to expect going into these next two weeks of performance. Would another frontrunner botch a performance and end up having their journey cut short or would the Idol audience finally banished the underperforming pair of CJ and Dexter? I like to […]

Captain of Commerce: Lessons Learned From Disney’s Box Office Triumph

Even with their overwhelming popularity and consistent box office dominance, there is still plenty of skepticism toward comic book movies. The fact that they are still primarily referred to as “comic book movies” is proof in and of itself that these films are considered to be more of a subset of the Action genre (much […]

American Idol XIII Double Feature: Crazy (Top) Eights

Given the use of the save, I thought I’d review both of Top 8 weeks together. So, spoiler alert: in case you didn’t know, someone gets saved. I’ll talk about the merits of that save later, but for now, let’s get to the first of our Top 8 nights. The theme was audition songs and […]

American Idol XIII: Top 9 Band Together

Last week we saw the Top 9 take on the theme “I’m With The Band”. I’m still unclear what this theme meant for song choice, but I did enjoy having Rickey Minor and the band up front with the contestants. For some, it brought out the best in them and for some, it did nothing […]

The Bomb Girls Are Back!

Throughout history, women have always been fighters. We’ve fought to be educated, to go to work, and for the right to vote. So when the fate of their show was announced last spring, the ladies of Bomb Girls didn’t take their series cancellation lying down. They fought back.

American Idol XIII: Top 10 Perform – Billboard or Boredom?

Normally I would revel in a theme that would force the contestants to pick modern songs or ones that hadn’t been done on the show before, but this season we haven’t really been having that problem. Still, this week’s theme forced our contestants to show they could be current and relevant to today’s music scene. […]

American Idol XIII: Top 11 Perform – Movies and Shakers

After a sleepy night of performances during the Top 12, the judges were fired up and trying to push the contestants harder to deliver better performances. So, naturally, I was pretty pumped myself to see if they could live up to the challenge during the Top 11 “Songs of the Cinema” theme. Perhaps the most […]

“Veronica Mars”: Is There Still Life On Mars?

It’s been 7 years since we left our blonde teenage private investigator (played by the lovely Kristen Bell) wandering through the rain in Southern California; and after a record setting Kickstarter campaign only a year ago, show creator Rob Thomas and the cast brought her back to us for a cheap (by movie standards) fan-funded […]
