Last week we saw Kara was not herself thanks to red Kryptonite, and next week we get a great crossover featuring The Flash and Supergirl. That could make for an off week for the show, but last night’s episode didn’t disappoint.

Fly Like a Girl: ‘Supergirl’ – Episode 16 ‘Falling’
Last night’s episode opens with Cat being on The Talk (nice tie-in CBS). Cat looks kind of bored and annoyed as they talk to her about Supergirl and how fabulous she is.
Fly Like a Girl: ‘Supergirl’ – Episode 15 ‘Solitude’
We open up thirteen years ago in the Phantom Zone. Kara in her off-course space pod is getting a close look at Fort Rozz. Then the buzzer sounds. Kara’s in bed and annoyed that it’s morning and there is a knock at the door.
Fly Like a Girl: ‘Supergirl’ – Episode 14 ‘Truth, Justice, and the American Way’
The episode picks up shortly after the death of Astra. Kara’s grieving for her aunt and she’s having a hard time with it. Her whole personality just seems off, which is either really good acting by Melissa Benoist or thin plot by the writers. I can’t tell which.
Fly Like a Girl: ‘Supergirl’ – Episode 13 ‘For The Girl Who Has Everything’
Last night’s episode was a riff off of the classic Superman story “For the Man Who Has Everything.” It was an ambitious undertaking and ultimately felt as organic to Supergirl as true to the classic Alan Moore material. Spoilers beyond this point.
Fly Like a Girl: ‘Supergirl’ – Episode 12 ‘Bizarro’
Last night’s episode opens up three months into the past. Maxwell Lord enters Lab 52 (a nice nod to the 52 universes in DC Comics). Inside he looks upon the unconscious girl we have seen in the past few episodes.
Fly Like a Girl: ‘Supergirl’ – Episode 11 ‘Strange Visitor from Another Planet’
Last night’s episode can be somewhat divided into two sections: First, there is the J’onn plot section and second, the Cat plot section. The episode flows as a woven tapestry, but it makes more sense to explain what happens based on the specific characters since there is very little overlap this time.
Fly Like a Girl: ‘Supergirl’ – Episode 10 ‘Childish Things’
We start our episode with Kara getting a flying lesson from Henshaw. As we all now know, Henshaw is really J’onn J’onnz, Martian Manhunter. Anyway, Henshaw is giving Kara a flying lesson and it’s pretty awesome. Martian Manhunter is fantastic as a character, but they really get him right on the show. It’s just so wonderful visually.
Fly Like a Girl: ‘Supergirl’ – Episode 9 ‘Blood Bonds’
Supergirl is back this week and while I doubt she made any resolutions, I’m excited to see what the New Year holds for her too. Picking up right where we left off, Kara is fighting her Aunt Astra’s husband, Non. It’s a pretty impressive aerial flight with some fancy dodging of a giant jet, but then they slam down to earth right in front of Lord Tech where it appears that Uncle Evil is about to destroy Kara.
Fly Like a Girl: ‘Supergirl’ – Episode 8 ‘Hostile Takeover’
We pick up from where we were last week: Astra and a pair of Kryptonians show up and face off with Kara. Kara punches them, tries to get away, but quickly finds that Astra has that pesky Kryptonite blade and that she and her cronies are wearing something that protects them from it.
Fly Like a Girl: ‘Supergirl’ – Episode 7 ‘Human for a Day’
This week’s episode opens up with our heroine getting put through all sorts of medical paces. The Alura program in Kara’s special fortress room explains her power loss. The nuts and bolts of it is that she drained all her Kryptonian cells of the energy they get from the yellow sun.
Fly Like a Girl: ‘Supergirl’ – Episode 6 ‘Red Faced’
Last night’s episode signaled not only a return to the normal week but also the end of my holiday leftovers so it needed to be pretty great and it did not disappoint. You all know the rules by now: spoilers beyond this point (now would be a good time to go get a snack.)
Fly Like a Girl: ‘Supergirl’ – Episode 5 ‘How Does She Do It?’
This week’s episode opens with our girl having a great flight just being happy. We know she’s happy because that’s what she’s monologuing about. She is definitely happy. As she is having her happy flight she sees a drone and goes after it.
