Later this week I will be kicking off a 10-day Italian adventure with some friends. With less than 48 hours till my departure, our hotels are booked, my bags are (mostly) packed, and my passport is eagerly awaiting its new stamp. There’s one final item on my to-do list: create a travel playlist.
For me, it’s not truly a trip until I’ve crafted the perfect soundtrack for my journey. Each playlist is unique to the destination, but below are a few staples that inspire me to explore and remind me to enjoy each and every travel adventure.
Gomez – See The World
So reach out it’s not too far away. Don’t mess around now, don’t delay. See the world, find an old-fashioned girl. And when all’s been said and done, it’s the things that are given, not won, are the things that you earned.
Bruce Springsteen – Born To Run
Someday, girl, I don’t know when we’re gonna get to that place where we really wanna go and we’ll walk in the sun. But till then tramps like us, baby, we were born to run.
Sara Bareilles – Many The Miles
There’s too many things that I haven’t done yet. Too many sunsets I haven’t seen. You can’t waste the day wishing it’d slow down.
Lord Huron – Ends of the Earth
I was ready to die for you, baby, doesn’t mean I’m ready to stay. What good is living a life you’ve been given if all you do is stand in one place?
The B-52’s – Roam
Fly the great big sky, see the great big sea, kick through continents busting boundaries. Take it hip to hip rock it through the wilderness, around the world the trip begins with a kiss. Roam if you want to, roam around the world.
John Mayer – 3×5
Didn’t have a camera by my side this time, hoping I would see the world with both my eyes.
Janet Jackson – Escapade
Come on, baby, let’s get away. Let’s save your troubles for another day. Come go with me, we’ve got it made. Let me take you on an escapade.
What songs get you excited to hit the road and see the world?
