Monthly ‘Idol’ Roundup: October 2016

Halloween is upon us, but there’s nothing scary about the Idol news we got from our talented alum this season. From new music to new babies, the show’s cast delivered some tricks and some treats for us to consider to lets get right to talking about those…

New Music

Season 15 champ Trent Harmon has started teasing fans with music from his forthcoming album, including one song he tells Taste of Country that he “can’t wait for his fans to hear” called “On Paper.” We’re all looking forward to it, Trent.

Season 10 Runner-up Lauren Alaina followed up her first single (“Next Boyfriend”) from her new album with an empowering song called “Road Less Traveled” penned with the help of pop starlet Meghan Trainor. Moreover, she’s since released a music video for the song. As reported by Rolling Stone, Alaina was inspired by her own struggles with eating disorders when writing the track — we’re so happy to hear she’s doing better.

Superstar Carrie Underwood continues to do it all, from claiming a 6th consecutive Billboard #1 spot with “Storyteller” to her son Isaiah with hockey player husband Mike Fisher. Now Carrie’s touring the country and is scheduled to host the 50th Annual CMA Awards alongside Brad Paisley on Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Season 9’s third place contestant Casey James is crowdfunding his next album on Kickstarter and, luckily has already exceeded his target, but fans can still contribute to get everything from signed photos, albums, and t-shirts for helping fund the venture.

Season 14 contestant Daniel Seavey has gone a different route and started a band with some of his friends called Why Don’t We. Their first single, “Taking You,” is available on iTunes.

Music Times reports that season 15 runner-up La’Porsha Renae is going out on tour with her duet partner from the show and Season 3 winner Fantasia in support of her new album The Definition Of... Undoubtedly La’Porsha will be performing her new single “Good Woman” every night. We look forward to hearing new music from both talented ladies.

In addition to being one of the show’s most talented alum, Season 8’s Adam Lambert is also one of show’s busiest with a gig as a judge and a mentor on The X Factor U.K.’s latest season and lead role in FOX’s take on the classic Rocky Horror Picture Show as Eddie, in which he delivered a great cover of the track “Hot Patootie.”

Dalton Rapattoni is still out on his nationwide “The Inspired Attempt” tour and has also released his single “Turn to Stone” on iTunes, so check that out if you’re a fan!

During Season 10, Pia Toscano got eliminated early on, but now she’s striking gold with a new EP and a starring role in the musical For The Record which pays tribute to Martin Scorsese’s films.

Allison Iraheta has also been hitting the road with her band Halo Circus to play songs from their new band bunny & even has a special guest, Season 13 runner-up Jena Irene, joining her on her Detroit stop.

Clark Beckham, Season 14 Runner-Up, is also heading out on several tour dates with Jon Bellion after being featured in the video for the acoustic version of his song “All Time Low.”

Other News

Inaugural winner Kelly Clarkson made the transition from singer to author this month with her new children’s book “River Rose and the Magic Lullaby.” Clarkson’s inspiration for the book came from own world travels with her daughter. The book is available on Amazon and at other book retailers.

And finally, congratulations to season 8 alum Scott MacIntyre as he and his wife Christina welcomed a beautiful new baby boy, Christian, into the world this month.
