Last month ended on a hilarious note when Kelly Ripa impersonated her Live co-host Ryan Seacrest by dressing up as him for Halloween. This month, our Idol contestants and new judges alike have been busy as the holiday season approaches and the shows ramps up for its return on March 11 next year. Let’s find out what they’ve been doing.
New Music

This month, Season 14’s Rayvon Owen released his new single “Volume“. The soulful singer also teamed up with other Idol alum like Blake Lewis and Thia Megia for an electrifying version of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” with Post Modern Jukebox. Fellow Season 14 alum Joey Cook is also on tour with PMJ this month.
Several of our favorite winners announced new albums this month. Season 11 winner Phil Phillips announced his album “Collateral” (out Jan. 19) and also showed off the cover and the dates he’ll be going out on tour. Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze also announced a new album entitled “Paranoia” (out Feb. 16) and a trippy stylized video for his single “The Breakdown”, while Season 7 winner David Cook released the titled and cover of his forthcoming EP “Chromance.“
In other Season 14-related news, fan favorite Daniel Seavey has been busy with his band Why Don’t We, who just debuted a new Christmas album. Season 3 winner Fantasia also released some holiday tunes on her album “Christmas After Midnight” while future Idol judge Luke Bryan released his version of the classic “O Holy Night.”

In award show news, the CMA awards saw a whole host of Idol faces with Carrie Underwood hosting, Lauren Alaina, Keith Urban and Luke Bryan nominated for awards and Scotty McCreery attended with his new fiance Gabi and chatted about his new album on the red carpet.

Over at the AMAs, Carrie snagged the award for top country female, while Kelly Clarkson performed R.E.M.’s hit “Everybody Hurts” with P!nk. Idol also gave us a sneak peek at their auditions, allowing fans to vote for their favorite of three possible options to advance to Hollywood Week. In the end, Britney Holmes scored a spot on the show. Good luck Britney!
Over on NBC, Voice judge Jennifer Hudson is taking the competition by storm with all three of her contestants – Davon, Noah and Shi’Ann — securing a spot in the Top 11 this past week. NBC also announced that Season 14, which features Kelly Clarkson as a judge, will premiere on Feb. 26, 2018.
Several Idol contestants also have very special shows coming up this month. Season 10’s Haley Reinhart is touring with her new album “What’s That Sound?” around Europe. Meanwhile, Season 8 winner Kris Allen is embarking on a Christmas tour while Season 12 winner Candice Glover takes up residency in New York for a holiday special of her own. Season 2 and Season 14 winners Ruben Studdard and Nick Fradiani can also be seen this month on the annual Hollywood Christmas Parade which airs on the CW on Dec. 14. Season 15 winner Trent Harmon is also hosting an exclusive event for 100 of his fans to debut all of his new music. Fans will receive an audio and video recording of the entire show and exclusive merchandise. How exciting! Future Idol judge Lionel Richie is also set to take the stage in Vegas for his residency on the strip.
And last, but certainly not least, we couldn’t forget to congratulation Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks on her marriage to boyfriend Dana Isaiah. The couple also announced that they are expecting a child! Congratulations to both of them!
