July means Blockbuster season and with that, a long list of hot summer releases! While so many are reveling in the sunshine and soaking up the some serious rays at the beach this season, so many more are turning to their nearest chilled cinema to kick back and watch a movie.
This month features an array of movies and anticipated sequels, proving there is something for everyone. To get you up to speed and keep you on you on your toes, we share five movie you need to watch this July.
Ant-Man and the Wasp
Releases: July 6
Summer isn’t summer without a Marvel movie! Picking up from the Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) copes with the results of his decisions as both Ant Man and a father. But as he works hard to find a solid balance between being a dad and a superhero, he’s confronted by Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and his daughter, Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) for an urgent mission that has him putting the suit back on.
Skyscraper
Releases: July 13
Dwayne Johnson and summer are a solid formula, so of course his latest is an action-packed movie sure to be a scorching summer blockbuster. Starring as a former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran, Johnson’s character now assesses the security of skyscrapers. But while on assignment overseas, he finds the tallest, safest building in the world suddenly ablaze, and is framed for it. Worst of all, his family is trapped inside!
The Equalizer 2
Releases: July 20
Almost four years later, Denzel Washington is back with the first sequel of his career with The Equalizer 2, returning as the vigilante assassin Robert McCall who serves unflinching justice for the exploited and oppressed. Based on the 1980s series of the same name, McCall is back and taking matters into his own hands after the murder of his friend, played by Melissa Leo. But how far will he go for someone he cares about?
Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again!
Releases: July 20
Based on the smash hit musical of the same name, Mamma Mia 2 picks up 10 years after Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) tied the knot, but now she’s pregnant while running her mother Donna’s (Meryl Streep) Greek island villa! As she learns more about her mother’s past from the help of her best friends, Tanya (Christine Baranski) and Rosie (Julie Walters), the film goes moves back and forth in time set against the soundtrack of ABBA’s greatest hits, showing all the relationships forged in past and present with young Donna (Lily James).
Mission: Impossible – Fallout
Releases: July 27
From the signature theme song to the iconic action sequences, Tom Cruise is back with highly anticiapted sixth installment in the Mission: Impossible series, this time inviting Superman star, Henry Cavill to the franchise. After an IMF mission ends badly, the world is faced with calamitous results with the CIA questioning Ethan Hunt’s (Tom Cruise) every move as he finds himself in a race against time to save the world, while hunted by assassins and former allies.
